Mandatory Reporting and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse

Policy Purpose

To set forth the commitment and compliance of Farmingdale State College to the principles of the State University of New York policy 6504 entitled "Policy on Mandatory Reporting and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.”

Policy Statement

Farmingdale State College, as an institution of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is required to comply with all policies as promulgated by SUNY unless such policy allows for or requires a separate policy on the issue at hand be adopted by an individual institution of SUNY. With regard to SUNY policy 6504 Policy on Mandatory Reporting and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, such policy does not allow for a separate policy by individual institutions of SUNY. Therefore Farmingdale State College adopts and will comply with and enforce all aspects of SUNY policy 6504 on Mandatory Reporting and Prevention of Child Abuse as written.

Procedures

As stated in the SUNY policy 6504, any employee or student of or volunteer for Farmingdale State College who witnesses or has reasonable cause to suspect any sexual abuse of a child occurring on College property or while off campus during official College business or College-sponsored events shall have an affirmative obligation to report such conduct to the relevant University Police Department immediately.

Definitions

Campus - any College owned, leased, licensed or operated space, facility, property, grounds or building.

College - Farmingdale State College, State University of New York.
