The NYS Flexible Spending Account Program allows eligible employees to set aside pre-tax dollars for qualified expenses through:
- Health Care Spending Account (HCSA) for eligible healthcare expenses
- Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAA) for qualifying child and dependent care expenses
- Adoption Advantage Account (AAA) for eligible adoption-related expenses
Resources
State employees can open an account with New York's 529 Direct Plan through payroll deduction, or if you plan to contribute on your own. An added benefit to enrolling in the Direct Plan is the generous deduction on your New York State income tax return if you are the account owner. Also take advantage of the Upromise rewards, a free service that gives you back a percentage of your qualified spending on groceries, gasoline, and other goods and services.

New York State employees may qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF). The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments are made under an accepted repayment plan and while working full-time for an eligible employer. Farmingdale State College has contracted with National EAP (NEAP) to provide 24 hour assistance.
National EAP, Inc. provides counseling, wellness, and work/life services for you and your immediate household. They are a team of EAP professionals who are ready to assist you with any issue that could interfere with everyday life, and provide support to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance.
All services provided by National EAP are pre-paid by Farmingdale State College and are at no cost to you. All services are completely confidential.

You can also reach National EAP by phone at 1-800-624-2593. These services are available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

What is NYS Ride?
The cost of traveling to and from work is unavoidable. But with NYS-Ride (pronounced NICE-Ride) you may save about 30% on your public transportation expenses
however you ride; bus, subway, train, ferry - you save! NYS-Ride is a state employee
benefit that allows you to use pre-tax dollars on a variety of qualified public transit

The State of New York retains the services of a commuter benefits administrator to

Farmingdale State College employees have access to LinkedIn Learning, an online learning platform offering thousands of courses in leadership, business, technology, communication, and creative skills. Courses are available on demand, allowing employees to learn at their own pace and support their professional and personal growth.
Resources
Income Protection Plans are designed to provide partial income replacement in the event you become unable to work due to illness or injury. In combination with other benefits such as retirement and Social Security, IPPs help to ease financial burdens caused by unexpected life events.
All SUNY professional (UUP and MC) employees who are full-time or are part-time and are eligible for health insurance are eligible to participate in the SUNY Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance program, administered by The Standard. The Standard also offers the Workplace Possibilities Program, which is a service designed to keep employees healthy at work, and help employees on disability recover more swiftly so they can return to work.
The SUNY LTD Plan is managed and directed by SUNY System Administration and is administered on the University's behalf by our currently contracted vendor and business partner, The Standard Life Insurance Company of New York.
LTD Plan Benefits
Benefits under the SUNY LTD Plan are 60% of your gross monthly salary as of the date
that you become disabled, with a maximum LTD Income benefit of $7,500 per month.
Additional Information
Work-Life Services (WLS) Programs are joint labor-management programs that benefit New York State employees by enhancing employee wellbeing, increasing productivity, and improving morale in the workplace. The WLS programs include the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), technical assistance and support for the NYS Network Child Care Centers, and DIRECTIONS: Pre-Retirement Planning.
The WLS programs are funded through the collective bargaining agreements between the State of New York and the public employee unions representing state employees: CSEA, PEF, UUP, NYSCOPBA, GSEU, Council 82, DC-37, and PBANYS. The Office of Employee Relations contributes on behalf of management/confidential employees.
