B140W Tuition Assistance Program
The B140W Tuition Assistance Program is a benefit offered to all Full -Time Farmingdale and Research Foundation employees who pursue higher education within the SUNY system. This program currently funds one 3 credit course in an academic year.
- The course must be credit-bearing (up to 3 credits per semester may be eligible for receiving B140w funds). Recreation, hobby, and/or personal interest courses are not eligible for tuition assistance under this program. Courses must be directly job related or part of a degree program. All supplementary fees are the responsibility of the employee.
- This tuition assistance program is subject to the availability of state funding. You may choose to enroll in the course and submit a B140w application, but, if SUNY funding is not available, your application will be voided and you will be responsible for the full cost of the course.
- Any course for which an application is received must be satisfactorily completed; otherwise, the B140w is withdrawn and the individual is responsible for the full tuition cost. The B140w class is subject to post semester audit by Human Resources. This will include a follow up request for grade submission after the completion of the course.
- Our funds are limited, so it is very important that individuals not using approved funds inform us immediately. Employees who drop courses after the University’s “drop/add” period will be fully responsible for any tuition liability incurred.
- Active Full-time Farmingdale State College or Research Foundation faculty, professional,
and classified employees. - The course must be taken at a SUNY-operated campus (not applicable for Community
Colleges or private colleges). - If your negotiating unit supplies a tuition benefit, that benefit must be used prior
to
your participation in the B-140w Tuition Assistance Program. - Employees must complete all student requirements to be registered. Please contact
the
appropriate admissions office of the school you wish to attend to learn more. - Termination or resignation of employment during the semester of course enrollment
will result in full tuition liability
Your B140w application is required each semester you are taking a class. This form
requires
your supervisor’s approval and should be submitted to Human Resources prior to the
start of
the semester.
Please note that the employee is responsible for paying tuition according to instructing
campus
regulations. To avoid late fee charges, it is recommended that you pay your tuition
bill by the
designated due date since there is no guarantee that SUNY B140w funding will be available.
Student Accounts Offices at SUNY campuses will credit the approved B140w amount when
processed/approved; a refund of any overpayment can be requested from the instructing
campus’s Student Accounts Office.
For any approved course, employees may receive a percentage of tuition assistance
based on

prior to
the commencement of the course. Taking courses under this program shall not interfere

for offering a course shall not be affected by students interested in enrolling in a course on a
