Academic Advisement for Science, Technology, & Society Majors

The Science, Technology, & Society major is a highly customizable interdisciplinary curriculum with a lens on science and technology as social processes, inseparable from the values, politics, and institutions that shape them. Given the flexibility of the major, it is extremely important that students meet with an academic advisor every semester to ensure they are taking the classes needed to build the specialization of their intended academic and professional goals.

Where you get advised depends on the number of credits you currently have applying to the degree. To see the number of credits applying to your degree, please review your Degree Works.

Freshmen and Sophomores
Students with fewer than 59 credits applying to the degree must be seen by an STS Advisor in the Student Success and Advisement Center in the basement of Greenley Hall (Library).

Juniors & Seniors
Students with with 60 or more credits applying to the degree must be seen by an STS Academic Advisor in the Science, Technology, & Society Department housed on the 1st Floor of Memorial Hall (between Laffin Hall & The Health & Wellness Center).

STS Pre-Health Students

Regardless of the number of credits applying to your degree, all STS students pursuing health professional programs after graduation should meet with the Pre-Health Professions Advisement Department every semester in addition to their regular academic advisement.
