Computer-Aided Design (CAD)

Computer Aided Design (CAD)

Effective Spring 2026, through a grant from the State University of New York (SUNY) and the New York Power Authority (NYPA), new, non-matriculated students may be eligible for scholarship aid to pursue the Computer Aided Design (CAD) Microcredential at Farmingdale State College (FSC). Classes are scheduled to begin on JANUARY 26, 2026.*

*Schedule subject to change

This microcredential is ideal for students interested in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, product design, mechanical systems, or automation. CAD plays a key role in clean energy by helping engineers design, analyze, and optimize components for renewable systems.

Admission Criteria

Students must meet the admission criteria for the microcredentials and not have taken coursework at FSC prior to admission. Eligible students should use this application to apply to this opportunity.

Outcomes

Students will learn to use CAD software to create precise digital models for clean energy applications, including wind turbine blades, solar panel mounts, and components for electric vehicles and charging stations. CAD also allows for virtual testing and simulation, reducing material waste, shortening development cycles, and improving overall performance.

Successful completion of this microcredential demonstrates a strong foundation in CAD for manufacturing and mechanical applications.
