Randi Shubin-Dresner

Randi Shubin Dresner joined Island Harvest Food Bank in 2001 and serves as its president and CEO. She leads a team with a shared vision of a hunger-free Long Island.

Their work tackles real-life issues by investigating and addressing the root causes of poverty, hunger, and food insecurity resulting in actionable, innovative programs that truly impact more than 220,000 neighbors in need within the Long Island community.

While the organization distributes close to 20 million pounds of nutritious food to a network of non-profit organizations and through their direct service work, the organization is determined to do more and so, in alignment with this objective, Island Harvest Food Bank has: formed robust advocacy efforts to advance its work, developed a Workforce Skills Development Institute, created a Registered Dietician run “Food as Medicine” Program working in collaboration with clinics/hospitals and the organization also manages an organic farm, greenhouse, and Giving Gardens across Long Island. Before joining Island Harvest Food Bank, Randi was a partner in a very successful fundraising and development consulting firm; she also enjoyed an increasingly progressive career (over four decades) with various non-profit organizations including The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, The Viscardi Center, The Heckscher Museum of Art, The National Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (JDRF) and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Randi is often called to speak with the regional, national, and local media as spokesperson on many topics and often welcomes opportunities to mentor those seeking to learn more about work in the non-profit sector. Randi serves on various boards and councils and is a member of the Energeia Partnership (an ethical leadership academy of Molloy University); was an adjunct faculty member at Long Island University and Molloy University for 25 years and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Laws from St. Joseph’s College in 2013.
