Criminal Justice Career Fair

Students exploring a range of careers within the criminal justice field, including law enforcement, legal careers, and victim advocacy were gathered in the Campus Center Ballroom this past spring for the annual Center for Criminal Justice Career Fair. Students also had the opportunity to look into graduate programs and internship possibilities. This event helped students build a strong network of professionals in their related fields providing great insight to the potential career paths.

 

Representatives from numerous organizations participated in the event showcasing to students their experiences in fields related to law enforcement and criminal justice. Agencies including New York State University Police, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, Crime Victims Center, New York Department of Environmental Conservation, NYPD, and US Pretrial Services. Students interested in the legal field also had the opportunity to connect with experts from the Queens County District Attorney Office and Legal Aid Society . This vast range of professional attendees provided students the opportunity to explore careers in a multitude of fields. 

 

This event also featured several representatives from graduate schools for students wishing to further their education, including John Jay College of Criminal Justice, Touro Law School, and CUNY School of Law. For students seeking internship opportunities, various organizations were in attendance providing students the opportunity to explore potential career fields through real world experience. Representatives from SUNY Washington Internship Program, New York State Senate, and Assembly Internship Programs were available to meet with students to discuss these exciting opportunities.

In addition to the numerous organizations present, many faculty members also attended helping support meaningful conversations between students and professionals. Among them were Drs. Michelle Miranda, Monique Sosnowski, Deanna Devlin, Sean Wilson, and Professor Peter Galante and Eileen Kelly. These dedicated faculty members were available to guide students and align them with the proper representatives from their respective field/agency.

Building on the success of this year's annual Center for Criminal Justice Studies Career Fair, Farmingdale State College plans to continue this practice giving students valuable opportunities to connect with representatives and build a strong network of professionals.
