If you are in the reserves or National Guard and are called to active duty, in order to incur no financial liability, you must do the following, if the mobilization occurs after the first week of classes.

If you are certain that your mobilization will extend for too long and you can no longer attend any of your classes, you must obtain a Semester Withdrawal form from the Registrar’s Office and submit it to your curriculum chairperson for signature. You may email your request for a withdrawal form to regoffice@farmingdale.edu. In your email, you must indicate that you are a veteran student called to active duty and include a copy of your orders if you have them. Please use this designation as your email subject line.

If you are registered for both in‑person and online classes, or you make a special arrangement with your in-person instructor and wish to remain enrolled in certain course(s), you must obtain a Course Withdrawal form from the Registrar’s Office for the in-person classes. The Course Withdrawal form should be submitted only to the instructor(s) of the class(es) you ;do not plan to remain enrolled in. Only the course instructor may sign the Course Withdrawal form.

Additional instructions for withdrawing are provided by the Registrar’s Office.

Completed withdrawal forms must be returned to the Registrar’s Office Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., located in Laffin Hall, Room 225, along with a copy of your mobilization orders.

If you are absent for only one semester, no official notice is required upon your return. If you are absent for more than one semester, you must apply for readmission through your major department. Please contact your department for further instructions.
