Who We Are
The Office of Community and Civic Engagement (OCCE) at Farmingdale State College leads the institutionalization of community engagement and civic learning. It advances meaningful partnerships between the campus and community by embedding community and civic engagement across academic and co-curricular experiences. OCCE supports engaged teaching, scholarship, and service, while creating student-centered opportunities that address real-world challenges in collaboration with local, national, and global partners.
Nationally Recognized Commitment
In 2020, Farmingdale State College earned the prestigious Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement, joining just 119 institutions nationwide. In January 2026, the College proudly received its Community Engagement re-classification, reaffirming this distinction among only eight SUNY institutions. This recognition underscores Farmingdale’s sustained commitment to embedding community engagement across teaching, research, and co-curricular experiences.
