Newman Civic Fellowship

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long program that recognizes and supports student public problem solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor based on their potential for public leadership and their work with communities.

We are excited to announce the 2026-2027 Newman Civic Fellowship nomination process is now open. We ask our FSC community to nominate a student who is most deserving and embodies a sustained commitment to civic and community engagement.
Self-nominations are accepted. Application link available February 4th.
Requirements
The fellowship is a yearlong opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to nurture their assets and passions, engage in collaborative action, and act to address inequality and polarization. To be eligible, nominees must:
1. Be a full-time FSC student for at least one year.
2. Demonstrate the sustained commitment to civic and community engagement.
3. Engage in collaborative action with others from campus or from surrounding communities in order to create long-term social change.
4. Promote policies and/or practices that invite and reinforce civic engagement, address issues of inequality and or demonstrate the motivation and potential for effective long-term civic engagement.
5. Have led/developed programming and other inclusive engagement efforts that promote a community engagement, volunteerism, or community service.
6. Possess a GPA of 3.0 or above.
