In addition to classes, we offer exciting day trips, lectures, art classes, and more. Seasonal Spring 2024 Hike:

 

The hike will take place on Thursday April 4th at 11 AM with a rain date of April 11th.

Bethpage State Park

Bethpage State Park is a 1,477 acre New York State Park located on the border of Nassau and Suffolk County.  It has numerous hiking/biking trails that intersect.  We will meet at the picnic area parking lot at 11:00 AM and hike for approximately two hours.  All trails are flat and suitable for both the first time hiker and the experienced. There is a bathroom located at the picnic area lot and there is no charge for parking for seniors during the week.  Bring water/snack and enjoy a wonderful and healthy outdoor experience.  When registering, please submit both your cell phone number and your email address.  If after registering,  you need to cancel or have any further questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our office directly.

Studio Tour of the News 12 Long Island Studios

Fee:  $5

Join us on April 18th at 9:30 AM for a tour of the News 12's state-of-the-art-studio. Explore multiple control rooms, broadcast studios, and advanced technology for seamless news production. Witness large studios with LED walls, weather center, and mobile reporting options, providing an immersive news experience.

Walking Tour of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Please join us for a one-and-a-half hour guided walking tour that explores the past, present and future of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Learn about the historic and modern architecture, the Nobel legacy, and the advanced cancer, neuroscience, and plant research taking place right here each day. Our knowledgeable tour guides include Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Also,  discover a picturesque locale adorned with numerous shops and delightful restaurants, inviting you to explore and indulge at your own leisure. 

Kindly ensure you are ready for a bit of stair-climbing during the tour, as we will be exploring various levels of the lab to fully experience the premises. 


Raynham Hall

Explore the Townsend home, discover the lives of the Townsend family and those they enslaved, and learn about the Revolutionary War and the Culper Spy Ring. A museum educator will guide you through the historic home detailing daily life in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Tours last approximately 90 minutes and include the exhibition hall and historic house.

To make the most of your visit, we recommend carpooling with friends or family, as parking availability might be limited at peak times. 


 

Navy Seal Museum


This is the second Navy SEAL Museum to be built that commemorates, reflects, and ensures a continuing memory of honor to all U.S. Naval Special Warfare Operators who have served and those who have sacrificed the ultimate in service to our country. Their heroism will never be forgotten. 

Inside, visitors experience a museum and education center that makes personal and emotional connections to our Special Warfare Operators, and the ideals and values that the govern the SEAL community. Visitors will understand the meaning and price of freedom, and appreciate what it means to put service above self.

Throughout the museum, visitors have multiple opportunities to meet, interact with, and learn about the SEAL community through films, videos, and exhibits that honor and promote the ideals and values associated with our Special Warfare Operators.

Located in West Sayville, New York on the south shore of Long Island, the Museum’s is in close proximity to the Long Island Maritime Museum. 

This site, which broke ground in late 2017, offers an ideal complement to historic maritime history that has been on the property since 1966. The museum is a world-class, state-of-the-art facility and adds to the area’s already rich array of historic and cultural attractions.


Sands Point Conservancy re Falaise Mansion Tour


This cliff-side French Norman-style mansion was the residence of Captain Harry F. Guggenheim and his wife, Alicia Patterson, founder of Newsday. Explore the exquisite artwork, antiques, and furnishings inside one of the most inviting mansions on the Gold Coast. Tours run approximately 45 minutes

Aside from the bus on premises, kindly ensure you are ready for a bit of stair-climbing during the tour. We will be exploring various levels of the house to fully appreciate its beauty and design. Regarding mobility issues, this is definitely for more of an active group. There are several flights of stairs in Falaise, and there is a bit of a step getting in and out of the van.
