Psi Chi International Psychology Honor Society

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology.  Psi Chi was founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. The Farmingdale State College chapter of Psi Chi was established in 2011.

The local Farmingdale State College chapter of Psi Chi holds social events for those interested in psychology, informational events about graduate school and careers in psychology and related fields, and fundraising and donation drives each semester. 

Application and Induction 

The application for Psi Chi membership is open year round - apply today! The application deadline each year is March 15th. Applicants will receive a response by March 20th of the same year.

The 2026 Psi Chi Induction ceremony will be held in the Campus Center Ballroom on Thursday, April 23rd at 5PM. Family and friends of inductees are invited to attend. 

Applications submitted after March 15 will be considered for induction in the Spring of the following year.

Requirements for Membership

Psi Chi membership is open to all undergraduate Applied Psychology majors who meet the minimum qualifications:

1. Must be an Applied Psychology major at Farmingdale State College
2. Must have completed at least 3 semesters of full-time college coursework (36 credits)
3. Must have completed at least 9 semester credit hours psychology courses (3 classes)
4. Must have at least a 3.3 overall GPA
5. Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses
