CITI Training
What is CITI?
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) is dedicated to serving the training needs of colleges and universities, healthcare institutions, technology and research organizations, and governmental agencies, as they foster integrity and professional advancement of their learners.
How do I register?
In order to administer research with human subjects, you must first complete CITI training from https://www.citiprogram.org/
- Once logged in, you will need to select Register and enter Farmingdale in the text box titled Select Your Organization Affiliation, which will populate the college's listing.
- You will then need to agree to the terms and conditions of the website and confirm that you are an affiliate of Farmingdale State College.
- You will then fill out your contact information.
- Next you will create a user login, password, and create a security question
- Next, enter your Country of residence
- Select No when asked about Continuing Education (CE) credits. CITI is provided free of charge to faculty, staff, and students.
- Provide your Farmingdale Email address and select Student Researcher - Undergraduate from the dropdown menu.
What courses do I need to complete?
- You will be asked 3 qualifying questions:
- The first question is about COVID courses. Please note: you are not required to complete these COVID reference courses. NOTE: Access to this course will terminate on 1 March 2023.
- The second question is about the research setting (the answer you would choose is "Human Subjects Research")
- The third question is about your research role (the answer you should choose is "Group 3: Advanced Social/Behavioral Research"). The Advanced Social/Behavioral Research training course will then be assigned to you.
- When prompted, choose Human Subjects Research from the multiple selection list.
- Depending on the capacity in which you are participating in research, you will either
select:
- Group 2: Basic Social-Behavioral-Educational (Pedagogical): Select this if your participation in research is taking place in as part of a course (Research Methods).
- Group 3: Advanced Basic Social-Behavioral Research: Select this if you are listed as a CO-PI on any research protocol.
- After making your selection, CITI will automatically enroll you in the courses you need to complete.
- After you have completed the courses, keep a copy of your CITI Completion Certificate and your CITI Course Overview.
