SSTEM Scholarship Application
Eligibility Requirements
- Be a U.S. citizens or permanent residents
- Be a first-time freshman
- Be accepted into the Applied Mathematics or Bioscience major at Farmingdale State College
- Have a strong academic record in high school
- Have demonstrated financial need as determined by the financial aid office
- Individuals from groups underrepresented in STEM (including those who identify as African American/African-descent/Black, Hispanic/Latino/Latina, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian, or Native Alaskan, and/or first-generation students) are encouraged to apply
- Students from Long Island and New York City High Schools are eligible to apply
Retention Criteria
Requirements for continued participation in the program will include:
- Remain a Biology or Applied Math major at Farmingdale State College
- Full-time student status
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0
- Satisfactory academic progress in chosen major
How to Apply
- Fill out application
- Upload Personal Essay to the scholarship link (up to 1,000 words answering "What motivates me to go to college and to major in the discipline that I have chosen?")
- Include the names of two individuals that will provide letters of reference (one from an HS math/biology teacher and one from an HS guidance counselor)
