Strain Stars New Hour Scholarship Program

Strain Stars New Hour Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to Farmingdale State College students who have been affected by a parent's incarceration. The program helps eligible students pursue their educational goals by providing scholarship support toward the cost of attending college, as well as additional funding for college-related expenses.

Eligible students may receive an annual scholarship award of $5,000, applied directly toward their cost of attendance after financial aid has been taken into consideration. Recipients will also receive a $500 stipend each semester to assist with college-related expenses, such as books, transportation, meals and other educational needs.

Scholarships may be renewable for up to four years of full-time enrollment for students pursuing a bachelor's degree, or up to three additional years for transfer students, provided they continue to meet the scholarship eligibility requirements. Awards are subject to the availability of funds.

Applications are accepted year-round. 

Program Eligibility Requirements
Be an incoming freshman, transfer student or current Farmingdale State College student who has been affected by a parent's incarceration.
Demonstrate academic achievement through acceptance to Farmingdale State College.
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credits per semester).
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Complete the scholarship application process.
