Strain Stars New Hour Scholarship Program
Strain Stars New Hour Scholarship Program, is for students affected by their parent’s incarceration. In addition to all tuition
and fees, scholarships may include funding for meal plans, books, transportations
and housing for up to four consecutive years of full-time enrollment pursuing a bachelor’s
degree at the college, or completion of an associate's degree or certificate program,
up to two years.
Strain Stars is the nation’s leading cannabis dispensary located in Farmingdale, NY.
As a family-owned and operated licensed establishment, they embody a commitment to
community and social responsibility. Partnering with the local nonprofit New Hour
for Women & Children, the region's leading provider of women's reentry from incarceration
services, Strain Stars has committed to create scholarship opportunities for children
whose parents are or have been incarcerated. Students must already be accepted to
FSC to apply for this scholarship.
Applications are accepted year-round.
Program Eligibility Requirements
• Demonstrates academic achievement, with admission into Farmingdale State College
• Has been affected by a parent’s incarceration
• Has completed the application process
• Must agree to, and maintain, a relationship with New Hour, by way of an event, program,
and or volunteer opportunity
• Must be an incoming freshman, transfer student, or current student that is a child
of an incarcerated parent.
• Enrolled full-time, (minimum of 12 credits per semester) at the College
• Demonstrates additional financial need as reflected by their tuition balance after
filling out the FAFSA application
• Must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk Counties on Long Island
All applicants must have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
