The Office of Institutional Research
The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) reports to the Provost and exists to advance the understanding, planning, operation, evaluation, and improvement of Farmingdale State College through the dissemination of clear and consistent data, information and analyses.
More specifically, the Office of Institutional Research provides Farmingdale's administrative and academic departments and our external constituencies with official College data and analysis to support assessment efforts, planning and decision making. The office also serves as the official reporting source for mandated college data to SUNY System Administration, as well as to the State Education Department and federal reporting agencies, such as IPEDS. We also administer campus surveys, including the Student Opinion Survey, the National Survey of Student Engagement, and the Six-Month After Graduation Survey, and respond to requests from internal and external constituencies for information and statistics about the institution.

The mission of the Office of Institutional Research is to support the understanding, planning, operation, and evaluation of Farmingdale State College in order to advance the College's mission and foster a culture of continuous improvement and institutional effectiveness.
To achieve its mission, the Office of Institutional Research has established the following goals:
- College constituents will be provided with accurate and relevant data, information and analysis via regular and ad-hoc reporting to support planning, assessment, decision-making and promotion of the College.
- Official data files and reports will be submitted in accordance with SUNY, Middle States, NYSED, and the US Department of Education reporting mandates.
- College constituents will be provided with data and information in a timely manner.
- College constituents will be provided with data and information in a widely available and easily accessible format.
