STEP Academies
STEP students can participate in experiential, learning-based academies. Academies take place during the fall, spring, and summer times. Please refer to the information below, and feel free to contact the Director for more information.

We are excited to be back for the Spring! Here are the details, from dates and bus info to class offerings and registration.

Bus Information
Bus pickups will be between 8:30am and 8:45am, depending on routes. Buses leave Farmingdale State College at 2:00pm to return to schools. Here are the bus pickup locations:

Class Offerings
Architecture | Discover the fundamentals of architecture and explore some key concepts in this stimulating course. You will learn about design principles, building materials, and spatial planning. Through hands-on projects and real-world examples, you'll develop the skills to think critically about architectural design and its impact on the built environment. |
Horticulture | Explore the basics of plant life in this eye opening Horticulture course. Learn essential techniques for planting, cultivating, and maintaining a variety of plants and explore Farmingdale State College’s Teaching Garden. You’ll acquire practical skills to enhance your knowledge and care for these gifts from nature. |
Law: Medical Malpractice |
Dive into the complexities of medical malpractice law. In this course, you'll explore key legal principles, including negligence, patient rights, and the litigation process. Through case studies and practical examples, you’ll gain the skills to navigate this challenging area of law and gain a deeper understanding of medical malpractice and its legal implications. **Only students in grades 9-12** |
Video Game Design |
Unlock your creativity in our Video Game Design course! Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this hands-on program will guide you through the fundamentals of game design, from concept creation to prototyping. You’ll learn key skills like level design and gameplay mechanics, and some industry tools that bring your ideas to life. |
SAT Prep |
Test preparation for reading, writing, and math sections for high school students planning to take these exams in the fall or late spring. **Only students in grades 10-12** |
If you are interested, but not already enrolled in the STEP Program, please note you must first be accepted into the STEP program by filling out our program application. Once enrolled in STEP, you can register for the Saturday Academies by filling out our Academies registration form.
