Farmingdale's Commitment to Inclusion
As part of Farmingdale’s ongoing Accessibility Initiative—and in alignment with upcoming ADA and Title II deadlines—the Farmingdale Accessibility Committee is in the process of being reinstated to coordinate accessibility efforts across campus, partnering with stakeholders to create and implement accessibility policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Does this affect me?
Yes! Everyone plays a part in creating an accessible campus. Posting content on the web? Faculty using Brightspace? Procuring technology for campus or class? Students submitting papers via LMS?
Why? Although title ii now mandates...Farmingdale has been including accessibility into aspects of the inuversity. Why? Because it is the irght thing to do.
So Far
This includes a model to track campus accessibility initaitve success on meeting benchmarks. Introduction of campus’s first Accessibility Specialist duties include, Establish procedures that support shared institutional commitment to provide accessible online environments for campus community members and visitors.
Still to Come
Accessibility has no finish line. Efforts will continue to evolve as technology advances, feedback is gathered, and effectiveness is measured. Be on the lookout for Updated Written, Video Tutorials and Training sessions for content contributors, facutly, web and accessible media.
