Health and Safety
- Health Insurance: You will automatically be enrolled in the SUNY Health Insurance plan and receive an email with your card. The policy will cover only the duration of your study abroad program. Please review the insurance coverage and keep the card on you at all times.
- Vaccinations: Review travel health and safety information specific to your study abroad destination on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Department of State website. Depending on which country you choose to study in, you may be asked to show proof of certain vaccinations. This documentation can be obtained from your primary health provider.
- Medication: Please make sure your doctor provides an explanation of your prescription (if it needs to be refilled while abroad). You will be unable to send your medication internationally.
- Pre-Departure Orientation: The mandatory orientation will cover relevant information on policies, classes, safety, student conduct, preparing for culture shock, and strategies for cultural adjustment. Participants will be notified of the date and time.
