The Department of Civil Engineering Technology at Farmingdale State College cultivates technical expertise to design, create, and implement projects for public needs, such as highways, airports, tunnels, and bridges. Students gain the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to analyze and solve complex challenges arising from growing infrastructure demands.

Graduates are well-prepared to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain both infrastructure and the built environment. They can pursue careers in various areas, such as structural engineering, transportation, utilities, water systems, geotechnical engineering, and pollution control.
