Sociology & Anthropology

The Sociology and Anthropology department specializes in the understanding of the social and cultural complexity and diversity of the modern human behavior. To understand the present, we look at the past, and strive to make progress in the future.

Sociology is the study of human social interaction, society, social groups, processes, institutions and social problems. Students gain insight into important topics such as the complexities of intimate relationships and family life, the causes and contours of inequality, the workings of education, politics, religion, and the media. Students develop an understanding of diversity and the challenges society faces as a whole.

Anthropology is the focused study of human evolution, including cultural history, language, and sociocultural similarities and differences. Students will gain knowledge about the history, diversity, and development of the world's human populations.

The department prepares students for a variety of career pathways that include business, management, criminal justice, social work, healthcare, education and the technologies as well as graduate studies.
