The Academic Warning Intervention Program
This information is designed for you to get back into good Academic Standing. You have fallen below the 2.0 GPA benchmark and course completion rate necessary to earn a degree from Farmingdale State College.
You are on Academic Warning – the first level of Academic Discipline. You can read more about the Academic Standing policies here.
The goals of this intervention are for students to:
- Make informed decisions about your Academic path
- Utilize campus support services such as your Academic Advisors and faculty, tutoring services, etc.
- Set appropriate goals for the semester
- Return to Good Standing at the end of Spring semester
Requirements for the Program.
Students Must:
- Schedule an initial meeting with their academic counselor within the first ten days of the academic warning semester.
- Goals and items to be discussed:
- Review and explain the academic probation/ warning policy, expectations, and consequences.
- Evaluate student's academic circumstances and motivation or interest in college.
- Change courses or career paths.
- Build relationships and trust between students and advisors and other campus support systems.
- Complete an Academic Success Agreement and an assessment to determine what areas they struggled in during the first semester.
- Goals of the inventory/Assessment:
- `Identifying factors from the previous semester that impacted a student's academic success.
- Provide strategies and offer referrals to aid in academic success.
- Attend Four RAM Academic Workshops, one every month of the semester covering a specific
topic. Students must attend all four.
- If a student misses one of the RAM workshops, they can attend one of the other support services programs to make up for a missed meeting.
- Failure to meet these program requirements will result in:
- Loss of Priority Registration for the following semester.
