Farmingdale State College (FSC) announces the fall launch of its Inspiring Leadership President’s Lecture Series, which focuses on open exchanges that share exclusive insights and inspiration with the College community. This semester’s highly-anticipated lineup will feature thought-provoking discussions that explore timely issues at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, public policy, and social sciences.

Open to students, faculty, staff, and members of the broader community, the series provides a unique opportunity to learn from experts representing a range of disciplines and perspectives.Through engaging presentations and discussion, this carefully-crafted series is designed to encourage new ways of thinking and greater understanding of the forces shaping a collective future.

The fall series kicks off Wednesday, September 16, at 10 a.m. with “The Trafficker, the Shipment, and the Sentence: Inside America’s Wildlife Crime Cases,” presented by Monique Sosnowski, PhD, assistant professor of criminal justice at FSC. Drawing on her research of thousands of federal court records, Sosnowski will take audiences inside America’s wildlife crime cases, exploring the illegal wildlife trade and how these crimes are investigated, prosecuted, and sentenced.

“I am absolutely thrilled to kick off the Inspiring Leadership Lecture Series," said Sosnowski. "Sharing knowledge about environmental and wildlife crime is a critical part of preventing these crimes, while also inspiring students and faculty to engage in related research, advocacy, and real-world solutions. I’m honored to be part of a series that creates opportunities for our campus community to learn from one another, exchange ideas, and explore how our work can make an impact beyond the classroom.”
