FSC Receives 2026 HEED Award

National Recognition Honors the College’s Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging

Farmingdale State College (FSC) has been named a recipient of the 2026 Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. This marks the fourth time FSC has received the prestigious national recognition.

The HEED Award proudly recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to academic excellence, belonging, and building strong campus communities that support student success.

“This recognition reflects Farmingdale State College’s collective dedication to fostering a campus culture where every student has the opportunity to feel a sense of belonging and succeed,” said Michael Nembhard, interim executive director for inclusion and chief diversity officer. “Inclusion is not the responsibility of one office or initiative; it is a shared commitment that strengthens our College and helps prepare students to learn, lead, and contribute to an increasingly diverse world.”

Following a comprehensive and rigorous application process, FSC previously received the HEED Award in 2022, 2023, and 2024. The 2026 recognition builds on the College’s longstanding efforts to expand student opportunities, foster an inclusive campus community, and support student achievement.

“On behalf of the Insight Into Academia award committee, our sincerest congratulations on being recognized with this prestigious national honor,” said Holly Mendelson, publisher, Insight Into Academia magazine and owner of Potomac Publishing, Inc. “This year’s honorees truly are an inspiration to all of us who are working so diligently to make a difference in the success of students, faculty, staff, and administrators across higher education.”

As a 2026 HEED Award recipient, FSC will be recognized alongside colleges and universities from across the country in the October 2026 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine.
