FSC Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being
Insight Into Academia Magazine Honors College's Leadership in Student Mental Health Initiatives
Farmingdale State College (FSC) is proud to announce that its Campus Mental Health Services (CMHS) recently received the 2026 Excellence in Mental Health and Well-Being Award from Insight Into Academia magazine.
This national honor is presented to higher education institutions that have demonstrated an exceptional dedication to promoting mental health and well-being through proactive programming, inclusive services, and core values of care.
“At Farmingdale State College we recognize the immense importance of fostering a culture of mental health, wellness, and belonging,” said Campus Mental Health Services Director Shane Owens, PhD, ABPP. “Our office is pleased to offer a wide range of professional counseling services and an ongoing commitment to our students and campus community.”
Free and confidential, CMHS services can be provided for individuals, couples, and groups and address a variety of areas, including anxiety and stress management, coping and problem-solving skills, relationship issues, depression, family crisis, trauma and loss, adjustment to college life and living, anger management, communication skills, substance use and abuse, and habit disorders.
CMHS also offers leading-edge virtual reality therapy, connections to local community organizations for specialized assessment services and additional resources, and an array of educational and personal growth-oriented programs and events throughout the year.
FSC will be featured, along with 37 other award recipients, in the September 2026 issue of Insight Into Academia magazine.
“We know that institutions are not always recognized for their dedication to and prioritizing mental health and well-being services and support for their students and employees,” said Lenore Pearlstein, owner and publisher of Insight Into Academia magazine. “We are proud to honor the colleges and universities who are standouts as the need for these resources continues to grow substantially.”
