Alexandria Cassar is in the Business Management program and is set to graduate in the Fall of 2025. She began her college career at John Jay College as a Forensic Science major and quickly realized that it was not for her. She transferred to Farmingdale, where she found her new academic home.
Growing up, Alexandria had a keen interest in advertisements and influencers on platforms like YouTube or Instagram. This fascination led her to fall in love with Marketing, she realized it was something she understood and enjoyed.
When she first transferred to the school, she felt lonely and was already considering another transfer. Before leaving she wanted to give FSC a shot and see if she could create a community for herself here. She joined the Women in Business club and broke out of her shell! She made great friends and started to find her people. She also joined the School of Business Student Advisory Board and Hellenic Society. Participating in campus activities and clubs can foster lasting friendships, expand your network, and contribute to personal growth.
During Alexandria’s first semester she took on a Student Assistant position in the Alumni & Development office, under Ann Noss the Director of Accounting and Finance. Throughout her time working in this position she made connections and long lasting memories, such as attending the President’s Gala and the President’s Circle Donor Event.
In Spring 2024, the time approached to begin interning, Alexandria applied to over 60 places without receiving any responses. During a Women in Business meeting, members were informed of a Social Media Marketing internship for the Fall 2024 semester. She applied and was hired!
“This internship was an amazing experience as I learned so many skills about managing a professional social media account, as well as editing and building engagement. During the internship, I created many videos and posts for the school's Instagram page by attending many school events to get content. I also participated in many photoshoots that made it to the school page, as well as shadowed the cool graphic designers in the office to learn more about the behind-the-scenes of all the marketing on campus. This internship turned into a new position for me, where the Spring 2025 semester will be my first semester as a Digital Student Storyteller!”
After receiving such a great opportunity from the Women in Business club, Alexandria wanted to give back. In the Fall of 2024, she ran for the secretary position. She was offered the position and will start this semester!
Alexandria was tackling 6 courses, an internship and a retail job! She learned how crucial time management is. She ended the semester with a 3.89 GPA, marking her first semester on the President’s List! After graduating she hopes to get her MBA in Marketing and start in a marketing position in the cosmetic or fashion industry.
