In February 2020, Dr. Aydin and Dr. Villani held Grace Hopper Scholarship application writing seminars reviewing the merits of attending the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women hosted by AnitaB.org. The scholarship was to attend the conference scheduled to take place in Orlando, Florida September 2020 and included airfare, hotel, conference fees, and stipend for meals.
The requirements of the application were reviewed with the attendees and participants were encouraged to submit an application that required a letter of recommendation. The good news is that three Farmingdale State College students were awarded scholarships to attend. The bad news is it will be held virtually this year due to Covid-19.
The scholarship recipients are Madlyn Espinoza Paredes, Rosy Barbaro, and Rita Moreno.
