Dear Farmingdale Student,

We want to see you succeed at Farmingdale, so we are notifying you about a special one-credit First Year Seminar course offered in Spring 2021: FYS 101.  This course helps students transition successfully into college, with a focus on learning about the academic and social resources that are available at Farmingdale, meeting people from various student support offices, and offering strategies on academic success and making connections on campus. The course is offered on Tuesdays from 3:05 to 4:20.

Students who take First Year seminars perform better academically overall. While the course is generally offered only to incoming students, this spring section is open to all students. Even students who withdrew from this semester will be able to take this course in the Spring if they are enrolled.

If you are interested in taking the course, please schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor in the Academic Advisement and Information Center (AAIC) to find out more about the course, requirements and to be able to sign up for the course, which requires permission from an advisor. You can sign up for an appointment as a continuing student on our website, choosing the option of ‘General Information.'

If you are eager to start the Spring Semester on the right foot, this is a great opportunity to receive additional support!
