2026 Day of Service

4th Annual Day of Service
Theme: Leadership, Advocacy, and Service

The Office of the Dean of Students and the Office of Community and Civic Engagement at Farmingdale State College proudly invites the campus and surrounding community to the 4th Annual Day of Service, centered on the theme “Leadership, Advocacy, and Service.” This year’s program highlights the powerful ways young people use their voices and platforms to advocate for change and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

We are honored to welcome two extraordinary guest speakers—Olympic champions Laurie Hernandez and Aly Raisman whose careers exemplify excellence, resilience, and advocacy. Beyond their accomplishments as decorated U.S. Olympians, both women have used their platforms to champion important social causes and inspire young leaders across the country.

The event will bring together students, faculty, staff, and community partners for a morning dedicated to civic engagement, leadership, and collective impact. We will also be highlighting all the Community Service Award recipents.

As part of our commitment to service, attendees are encouraged to bring a toiletry donation when attending. Collected items will support members of our community through Farmingdale State College’s Campus Food Pantry, Bethany House, and ARCH, helping provide essential resources to individuals and families in need. The Day of Service reflects Farmingdale’s continued commitment to civic responsibility and community engagement—reminding us that leadership is not only about influence, but about service to others.

Don't forget to stop by the Office for Sustainability's Green Giveaway thrift event, where all items that were donated by the campus community are given back out for free. This event is put on to promote waste reduction by giving these items a second life and keeping them out of the landfill.

How does it work?
It's pretty simple! Come by the Green Giveaway event taking place on April 21 outside by the Quintyne Hall and Campus Center Walkway. Any items you see are available for you to take for free! Items include: clothing, shoes, jackets, hats, dorm essentials, kitchen essentials, school supplies, and more!

Together, we look forward to a day of inspiration, action, and meaningful impact.
