Caregiving Affinity Group: Book Publishing and Academic Parenting

The FSC Caregiving Affinity Group presents a colloquium on Book Publishing and Academic Parenting with guest speakers Dr. Ranita Ray and Dr. Georgiann Davis from the University of New Mexico. Drs. Ray and Davis will join us virtually and we will have in person space available at the Faculty Center for those who would like to be in person. A Teams link will also be available for those who would like to join virtually after RSVPing.

At this colloquium, you’ll learn about:

  • Balancing parenting & academic writing and publishing
  • Writing & publicizing non-fiction and research-driven memoir
  • How research may influence your parenting philosophies on gender & race

Bios:

Dr. Ranita Ray is Associate Professor of Sociology and Baca-Zinn Chair at the University of New Mexico. She is author of Slow Violence: Confronting Dark Truths in the American Classroom (St. Martin's Press/Macmillan), which was shortlisted for the 2024 Lukas Work-in-Progress Prize.

Georgiann Davis is an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of New Mexico and the author of Five Star White Trash: A Memoir of Fraud and Family.
