Thanks to the support of the students, faculty, and staff the RAM Program was able to raise over $1,750 for cancer research through the St. Baldrick's Foundation!

On Thursday, April 15th the RAM Program went LIVE on Instagram to take the pledge and shave their heads to raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer Research. (Pictured Right: Dr. Erwin Cabrera and Senior Scholar Seiji Clark shaving their heads LIVE).

Prior to COVID-19, RAM Scholars would often take part in the program’s volunteerism and service-learning component; RAMdom Acts of Service. Through this initiative students have volunteered their time and efforts with local soup kitchens, Breast Cancer walks, and their very own Adopt-a-Highway Initiative.  However, this year with limited social interaction, students decided to take on a new challenge, Childhood Cancer.

The Big C (cancer) continues to affected many students and their families, even while the nation battles this COVID-19. Eager to make a change two RAM Scholars, Morgan Callahan and Vanessa Cantos decided to lead the initiative of partnering with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to battled childhood cancer.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a terrific organization whose focus is the advancement of treatment and research of those battling several forms of childhood cancer. St. Baldrick’s has seemingly cracked the code on how to make awareness, donations, and education cool! This foundation doesn’t just raise money the conventional way, no, instead they challenge you to SHAVE YOUR HEAD! This symbolic gesture not only shows your support and raises awareness of those fighting this battle, but also makes a fun challenge for all friends and families!
