Farmingdale State College (FSC) is launching a new Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Management Program, the first such degree to be offered in the State University of New York (SUNY) system. This is an online, upper-division program geared toward transfer students who have an associate degree in either business or computer science. Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2024 semester.
Artificial intelligence (AI) mimics human intelligence and learns from an enormous amount of data, allowing AI to unlock remarkable capabilities and redefining what is possible now and in the future. AI is revolutionizing industries, streamlining processes to enable breakthrough scientific discoveries, and reshaping how we live, work, and interact.
“We tailored our new AI program to meet the unique needs of transfer students from Long Island community colleges and the Greater New York region,” said Laura Joseph, EdD, Senior Vice President and Provost of Farmingdale State College. “Its allure extends far beyond geographical boundaries and can be attractive to working adults from all over the country.”
The Bachelor of Science in AI Management is designed to meet both transfer and continuing education needs for students, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the emerging field of AI. This program builds a foundation of both managerial and technical skills by combining business and computer science to help students understand, develop and manage AI applications. It is designed to equip students with machine learning, algorithms, statistical reasoning, ethics, and sustainability knowledge, within functional areas of business such as marketing, finance, operations, supply chain management, and project management.
The program is ideal for students with backgrounds in computer science and interested in learning more about the application of AI in business, and for students with backgrounds in business and interested in learning more about the technical aspects of AI. It also enables:
- graduates without prior related work experience to obtain entry-level positions in AI Management in a wide range of industry sectors and functions such as healthcare, finance, marketing, transportation, insurance, transport and logistics, and customer service.
- graduates with prior managerial experience to obtain technical skills in programming and machine learning to transition to work in AI management.
- graduates with prior technical experience in AI to gain managerial skills and business knowledge to transition to work in AI management.
