Howard Beach resident Dr. Cristina Casa-Levine, associate professor in the Dental Hygiene Department at Farmingdale State College, has been named American Dental Hygienists Educator of the Year.
Faculty members are nominated by their peers, and only one professor from across the
country is selected to receive the annual award. The award honors and rewards full-time
dental hygiene faculty members who contribute to, and are dedicated to, providing
high-quality education to dental hygiene students.
Dr. Casa-Levine is a 2007 graduate of the College's Associate in Science in Dental
Hygiene program, and a 2008 graduate of the BS Degree Completion program. She earned
her Master's in Health Services Administration from SUNY Utica/Rome, and in 2016 earned
her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. Dr. Casa-Levine
joined the full-time faculty at Farmingdale in 2014.
"The Department of Dental Hygiene is incredibly proud of Dr. Casa-Levine and the recognition
she has received from the ADHA," said Dr. Maureen Tsokris, chair of the department.
"The department and our students are fortunate to have an instructor with the passion
and dedication of Dr. Casa-Levine."
