DD. Jordan the New Director of the Educational Opportunity Program

Dr. Kevin D. Jordan has joined Farmingdale State College as Director of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).

Dr. Jordan joins Farmingdale with more than 25 years of experience in higher education, specializing in student support services.  He previously had been Assistant Dean for Student Development and Campus Life at CUNY LaGuardia Community College, and Dean of Academic Support Services at Dowling College.  His background includes management roles and oversight of multiple student support programs such as HEOP (Higher Education Opportunity Programs) and Federal TRIO Programs.

Dr. Jordan holds degrees from Princeton University in psychology and African American studies and Union Theological Seminary in practical theology.  He earned a doctorate in Educational Administration, Leadership and Technology from Dowling College.

Dr. Jordan says he has “a passion for providing educational opportunity for at-risk students where an undercurrent of talent and potential awaits to be tapped.”

The EOP at Farmingdale State College is designed to provide the opportunity of a college education to capable students who are historically disadvantaged due to limited financial resources and inadequate academic preparation. Throughout their years at Farmingdale, EOP students are provided ongoing support services and resources to help insure their collegiate success.
