Farmingdale State College's Nursing program has received certification of its BS degree by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, a national agency dedicated to ensuring the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing. The accreditation is good through 2020.
“CCNE accreditation validates to our students and employers that essential benchmarks have been met which constitutes a quality program,” said Dr. Denny Ryman, Dean of the School of Health Sciences.
The BS in Nursing – which is also accredited by the New York State Board of Regents - has been offered since 2006, and has graduated more than 400 students eligible to sit for the licensing exam and RN students since that time. FSC nursing graduates work in most LI hospitals, and generic students have a 100% employment rate within six months of completing their degree. Graduates who took the test for nursing licensure this year passed at a rate of 94% - well above the national mean.
Farmingdale’s Nursing curriculum prepares students for positions in hospitals, home health agencies, long-term facilities, and primary and preventive care. Learning experiences take place in the classroom, the college nursing laboratory, and in a variety of clinical settings.
