A contingent of Farmingdale State College nursing students is heading to Wantagh to teach students about car safety, bike safety, and their power to keep themselves safe.  The event, the annual “Teddy Bear Clinic,” will be held Thursday, May 7, at Forest Lake Elementary School, between 9:30 and 10 a.m.

The “Teddy Bear Clinic” is held at elementary schools throughout Long Island.  The clinic is co-sponsored by Safe Kids Suffolk and Stony Brook University’s Hospital Trauma Center.

Through interactive sessions, Farmingdale’s nursing students create a fun, playful learning environment utilizing a teddy bear to help kids better understand what it’s like to give care to an injured patient, and ease their fears about visiting a doctor’s office or hospital.
