Farmingdale State College to Host Financial Mathematics Conference

The Conference in Financial Mathematics – a degree track at Farmingdale State College that explores the mathematics of financial markets and the risks in pricing financial instruments – will be hosted at the college on Saturday, April 18, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

Registration – no later than April 10 - is available at https://www.farmingdale.edu/academics/arts-sciences/mathematics/mathfinance2.pdf.  The event will be held in the Campus Center Ballroom. There is a $30 registration fee; it is free for Farmingdale students who register by the deadline.

Farmingdale State President W. Hubert Keen lauded the mathematics department for creating this conference, saying “Math is an essential tool in our technology-driven economy and has become central to analyses of the financial system. The conference brings an impressive array of presenters and participants, and is another example of Farmingdale’s commitment to STEM education.”

Co-organizer of the event and FSC mathematics professor Dr. Loucas Chrysafi said, “If you want to understand Wall Street and investments, financial mathematics provides the tools you need. This is an outstanding opportunity to learn from some of the most respected experts in the field.”  Drs. Worku Bitew and Chunhui Yu are also members of the organizing committee and of the Department of Mathematics.
