Farmingdale State College Celebrates 50 Years Of Educating Nurses

From seniors to toddlers, if you’ve received medical care on Long Island there’s a good chance you’ve been treated by a nurse who graduated from the nursing program at Farmingdale State College.

To celebrate a half-century of nurses’ education the college is holding a 50th Anniversary dinner-dance at the Campus Center on Thursday, June 12 from 6 – 11 PM.  Tickets are $50 per person and may be obtained by calling 934-420-2390.

Farmingdale offers a generic BS in Nursing and an RN to BS Completion Track.  The college graduates about 125 students a year, up more than 100 annually since the first graduating class in 1964.  The nursing curriculum prepares graduates to provide professional nursing skills to individuals, families and groups in a variety of structured and unstructured healthcare settings.  Students are provided with theoretical knowledge and clinical practice; learning experiences take place in the classroom, a nursing laboratory and in a variety of clinical settings.  The nursing curriculum is also provided on site at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola and Southside Hospital in Bay Shore to allow their RNs to complete the bachelor’s degree.
