For Farmingdale State College alumna Sulki Moise, the road to success has been anything but linear. Since graduating in May 2019 with a B.S. in Business Management, Sulki has taken an unexpected yet inspiring journey that reflects perseverance, adaptability, and the courage to follow her passions wherever they lead.

Sulki’s path began in business but soon expanded into healthcare, where she now serves as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Northwell Health. Along the way, she explored her creative side through photography and is now preparing for her next chapter as a Yeoman in the U.S. Navy. Her story is a testament to the power of flexibility and determination.

“I took a more meandering path,” Sulki shared. “I worked in multiple hospitals and nursing homes while applying for jobs in my field of study. I also pursued photography.” Despite early setbacks—including being turned down from a promised nonprofit position—Sulki remained resilient, channeling her energy into her work and refocusing her goals until she was ready to take on the challenge of military service.

Her passion for travel and photography has remained a constant source of inspiration. Capturing moments from her journeys allows her to see the world from new perspectives, something she believes is key to both personal and professional growth.

During her time at Farmingdale, several professors left a lasting impression. “My business law, accounting, and conflict resolution professors changed my life,” she said. “The knowledge I acquired through their teachings has helped me tremendously in real life. I remember how passionate and dedicated they were.”

One of Sulki’s biggest lessons came from her business law course. “I used to think that a degree was just an expensive piece of paper until my hard work finally paid off,” she reflected. That realization, combined with the time management skills she developed while balancing classes, work, and campus life, has continued to guide her in her professional and personal endeavors.

For Sulki, success is about more than titles or financial gain. “To me, success is time freedom,” she said. “The freedom to do the things we enjoy. Time is money, undoubtedly, but time freedom is a measure of success.”

She lives by the mantra “Mind over Matter,” a phrase so meaningful that it’s tattooed on her left wrist. It serves as a daily reminder of her inner strength and perseverance.
Sulki continues to set ambitious goals for herself, working toward entrepreneurial ventures, property ownership, and early retirement. Her advice for current students is rooted in experience: “Pay attention in class because knowledge is power. Know your worth and never settle. Also, do not get stuck in a hamster wheel. Explore all possible options.”

Reflecting on her time at FSC, Sulki expressed gratitude for the opportunities that helped her grow beyond the classroom. “I want to thank the college for extracurricular activities like Dress for Success and the various business panels. I was also a Marketing Intern for FSC Dining Aramark, which gave me real-world experience.”

Sulki’s story embodies the Farmingdale spirit—resilient, resourceful, and ready to take on whatever comes next. Her journey reminds us that success isn’t about following a straight path, but about embracing the twists and turns that lead to growth, purpose, and fulfillment.
