In April 2025, the School of Business at Farmingdale State College earned AACSB International Accreditation after successfully completing a rigorous review process. AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools and the largest business education network connecting learners, educators, and businesses worldwide. AACSB accreditation recognizes institutions that have demonstrated a focus on excellence in areas including teaching, research, curriculum development, and student learning. AACSB accreditation is a voluntary process in which a business school demonstrates commitment to quality and continuous improvement against a set of internationally relevant standards. AACSB-accredited schools are considered to be amongst the best business schools in the world and graduating from an accredited school improves a student's resume by giving their degree even greater value. This is because AACSB is the most recognized and longest standing accrediting body in business education with only 5.7% of business schools worldwide being AACSB accredited (AACSB, State of Accreditation, September 2022).
“We congratulate Farmingdale State College and Dean Richard Vogel on earning accreditation and applaud the entire team, including the administration, faculty, staff, and students, for their roles in earning this respected honor” said Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB. AACSB accredited schools successfully undergo a rigorous review process conducted by their peers in the business education community, which ensures that they have the resources, credentials, and commitment needed to provide students with a first-rate and future-focused business education.
“We are grateful for this recognition and to be awarded AACSB accreditation. We have worked diligently to strengthen our curriculum, increase the impact and visibility of our faculty research in the academic and regional community, and provide our students and graduates with a strong and resilient set of skills and values to be successful in their careers,” said Richard Vogel, PhD, dean of the School of Business at Farmingdale State College. “I would like to thank Assistant Dean Nanda Viswanathan, PhD, and our faculty in the Business Management Department for navigating this process and helping us achieve this milestone for Farmingdale’s School of Business.”
Synonymous with the highest standards of quality, AACSB accreditation inspires new ways of thinking within business education globally and ensures continuous improvement and provides focus for schools to deliver on their mission, innovate, and drive impact. By demonstrating a culture of continuous improvement and a commitment to impact‑driven scholarship, FSC proved it can adapt curricula to the emerging needs of students and Long Island’s vibrant regional economy. In addition, employers worldwide trust AACSB‑accredited schools to cultivate graduates who can navigate complexity with analytical skill and ethical judgment. For current students, this seal can open doors to selective internships, graduate programs, and professional networks; for alumni, it boosts the perceived value of their degrees.
“State University of New York at Farmingdale’s commitment to earning accreditation is a true reflection of their dedication—not only to their students, alumni network, and greater business community, but to the higher education industry as a whole,” said Bryant.
