Our Economics Department is happy to announce our new university partnership with the National Association for Business Economics (NABE). With this partnership students enrolled in our Applied Economics B.S Degree program will also have the opportunity to earn NABE's Certified Business Economist Certification (CBE). "Launched in 2015, the CBE is a comprehensive professional certification program of study and examination covering core topics in applied economics and data analytics."
NABE is the premier professional association for business economists and those who use economics in the workplace. Since 1959, NABE has attracted the most prominent figures in economics, business, and academia to its membership Dr. Zhang explains, the Chair of our Applied Economics Department. Farmingdale is ecstatic to join this community and offer the CBE certification to our students. Farmingdale sits alongside eleven other universities that acquired the same partnership in the past three years such as the Boston College, University of Arkansas, and the University of Maryland.
Dr. Zhang led the charge to solidify this partnership alongside her co-workers in the Applied Economics Department. She commented, "My colleagues in Economics Department carefully reviewed and modified our curriculum to make sure all the knowledge and skills valued in the market are properly covered in Applied Economics program." The CBE program was crafted specifically to mend the gap between what is taught in the classroom and the knowledge required to successfully put it into practice.
For a student to obtain this recognition they must pass a series of exams and complete an experiential working requirement to earn the certification. This allows the students to differentiate themself from their peers in the job market. As well as provide a platform for students to network with active Applied Economics professors. Each academic year our students will have the opportunity to earn their certification.
