In May of 2021, student Kenneth Larsen graduated from Farmingdale State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming and Information Systems with a concentration in Programming. Kenneth says while at Farmingdale State College, he learned to program using C++, Java, C# and SQL programming languages. He was a member of the Computer Programming club and he joined the Association of Computer Machinery (ACM) Computer Tech Club, which is a professional nationally recognized organization. Approximately 2 months after graduating, Kenneth obtained an internship position as an IT intern at Enzo Biochem just a few miles south of the college. Kenneth was assigned a mentor and the internship turned into a full time job. Kenneth was soon promoted to a full time position as a Desktop Administrator. In this role he was responsible for creating backups, upgrading computers, setting up network printers, installing software, putting together computer setups for new users and managing administrative rights. In addition, Kenneth deployed operating system images on laptops & desktops. Kenneth said he felt fully prepared to enter the workforce and put to use the skills that he learned at FSC. Kenneth has been able to fulfill his basic desire to help people with their computer issues. As a Desktop Administrator, he has the opportunity to help his fellow employees everyday, which he finds very rewarding.  Kenneth expressed his gratitude to the BCS Department and to the faculty at FSC for preparing him for a rewarding career in the computer field.
