Reception - Senior Project Design Expo

The Farmingdale State College Memorial Gallery and Visual Communications Department are excited to announce the 2026 Senior Project Design Expo gallery exhibition and reception.

Join us in celebrating the work of our Visual Communications, Graphic Design, and Interaction Design seniors. The 2026 Senior Project Design Expo will feature expo-style displays within the Memorial Gallery!

The exhibition will feature a series of installations representing each graduating designer's capstone project concept. It will be on view in the Memorial Gallery, located in Hale Hall at Farmingdale State College, 2350 Broadhollow Road, Farmingdale, NY 11735, from May 5 – June 12, 2026. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday. Two receptions for students, faculty, staff, and the public will be hosted:

  • May 5, 2026 from 5 - 6:30 PM with Professor Michael Mastermaker and his class
  • May 7, 2026 from 5 - 6:30 PM with Professor Brian O'Keefe and his class

Please join the Visual Communications Department in celebrating our graduating students from the Graphic Design Program. These projects reflect each student's unique interests and personal perspectives. Their work spans a range of creative challenges, including application development, site-specific design work, and innovative solutions to complex artistic problems.
Each project is grounded in research-driven methodologies, incorporating interviews, surveys, and user-focused design strategies to develop thoughtful and effective outcomes. Together, these projects highlight the diverse talents of our graduates, and we are proud to share the results of their hard work, creativity, and dedication as they present their Senior Project work. — Prof. Michael Mastermaker

These projects showcase innovation in design thinking while tackling a variety of contemporary human-centered problems. On exhibition we have, AMIGO a social mediation robot designed to combat digital isolation by transforming "third spaces"—such as cafes and libraries—into active hubs for authentic human connection. JUMO A wearable protest companion designed to safeguard Nigerian activists through discreet wayfinding navigation and secure, real-time protest coordination. TUCKR a bio-linked puppy litter tracking service for a lifetime of dog family connections, healthcare, and well-being. These projects and more demonstrate the diverse talents of our graduates, and we look forward to sharing all their hard work, creativity, and dedication as they exhibit their Senior Project work. — Professor Brian O'Keefe, Ph.D.

The exhibition is planned in coordination with the release of the 2026 Senior Project Design Expo website, which is dedicated to the virtual presentation of portfolios and projects developed by graduating students from Visual Communications, Graphic Design, and Interaction Design at Farmingdale State College.
