About the Symposium:
Financial stress and mental health challenges among college students are significant obstacles to academic success and well-being. The urgency for financial literacy is increasing, as many students enter higher education with limited knowledge of personal finance, making them vulnerable to financial stress, particularly those from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
This symposium aims to facilitate a collaborative exchange of insights and educational practices among faculty, researchers, practitioners, and administrators in higher education. It will serve as a platform for presenting research findings and innovative teaching methods to enhance financial literacy and mental health support for students. Ultimately, the goal is to establish comprehensive support systems that improve the financial resilience and well-being of college students both on campus and in the wider community.
The symposium invites professionals, educators, and researchers to submit their papers for consideration. Submissions should be made electronically by filling out the form.
We invite submissions on a range of topics, including but not limited to:
- The psychological impacts of financial literacy
- Behavioral finance and decision-making
- Financial education interventions and their effects on mental health
- Economic inequality, mental health disparities, and access to financial education
- The role of technology in promoting financial literacy and emotional resilience
- Financial literacy among vulnerable populations (e.g., students, seniors, low-income households)
- Cross-disciplinary frameworks for addressing financial and mental health together
- Policy approaches to integrating mental health and financial literacy in public programs
