Safeguarding Your Scholarship: Avoiding Predatory Publications
Grudniewicz et al. (2019) have defined predatory journals and publishers as "entities that prioritize self-interest at the expense of scholarship and are characterized by false or misleading information, deviation from best editorial and publication practices, a lack of transparency, and/or the use of aggressive and indiscriminate solicitation practices" (p.211). But, how does one actually go about identifying and safeguarding one's scholarship from these exploitive publications? Hosted by Prof. Danielle S. Apfelbaum, this one-hour session will equip attendees with tools, strategies, and criteria for evaluating the legitimacy of journals to which attendees may consider submitting their work.
