Suicide Prevention Day
An informative conversation about suicide prevention with Campus Mental Health Services
Each year, suicide affects millions of people. Over 700,000 people worldwide die of suicide and in the United States alone, it is the 10th leading cause of death. For each suicide, there are more than 20 suicide attempts. Suicide and suicide attempts create a devastating ripple effect that impacts families, friends, colleagues, communities and societies. Many suicides may actually be preventable in that 50-75% of people who die by suicide tell someone about it in advance. Much can be done to prevent it at individual, community and national levels.
We will be talking about suicide, risk factors, warning signs, how to talk to a friend or family member who may be contemplating taking their own life, and how to get help.
