AI-Generated Text in Our Classrooms

Prof. Katelynn DeLuca, Prof. Jason Lotz, Prof. Chris Iverson, and Prof. Travis Holloway will be presenting on behalf of the English and Humanities Department.

This workshop will introduce effective pedagogical strategies for responding to the use of AI-generated text in our classrooms. Faculty members from the English and Humanities Department with expertise in composition and writing assessment, as well as Jennifer Jaiswal, Director of the Faculty Center at FSC, will introduce a range of issues related to the recent use of AI-generated text, including: academic integrity statements; preventing the use of ChatGPT; process-based writing pedagogy; detecting AI-generated text; and AI text in online learning environments. The workshop will conclude with a broader discussion about AI-generated text and its implications for teaching students how to learn, communicate, and write. This event will be held online to encourage attendance. Those who are unable to attend and would like to learn more about AI-generated text may find this memorandum helpful.
