FSC Nursing Civic Engagement: Heart Screen -Sachem North High School

Heart Screen New York, Sachem North High School, 212 Smith Street, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY

Activities: Intake history, EKGs, BPs, assist with echocardiograms and scribing reports. Prefer students  who possess the ability to perform EKGs but this is not mandatory. Will train on-site. 

Civic engagement opportunities return for this semester! For those students new to this, civic engagement means working together to address public needs. For the nursing department, the opportunities are outreach events designed to support our local communities. Due to local regulations regarding civic engagement during the COVID 19 pandemic, the mandatory policy for students to attend at least one civic engagement venue continues to be waived. The Department of Nursing however, strongly encourages student participation when available.

In order to participate, students must have successfully completed NUR 114. On the day of the venue, you must wear your green scrubs with FSC picture ID and pin. For some venues, a stethoscope is required. [Maximum of 10 students]
