Disability Awareness Event: Advocacy Is For Everyone

We all know that communication is an essential part of life, but have you ever wondered about the role it plays in advocating for people with disabilities?

Expressing ourselves can be challenging but expressing the unique needs related to disabilities can pose extra challenges. Participants will leave this workshop with practical tools they can use to confidently advocate for themselves and others.

Estela Lugo, Program Director, Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation. Estela was diagnosed with a progressive form of neuropathy called Charcot-Marie-Tooth. In 2019, Estela gave her first TEDx talk titled, “RePurposeYour Pain” on the art of turning adversity into life’s most beautiful work.

Lainie Ishbia, MSW, Founder of Trend-ABLE.com Lainie is on a mission to help people with invisible disabilities look & feel their best. She holds an MS in Social Work from The University of Michigan and has been a well-respected speaker and educator for over 20 years on all topics relating to self-esteem and body image. Lainie, who has an inherited neuromusculardisorder and wears AFOs (leg braces).
