As we enter the final month of the semester, I want to take a moment to recognize
all that you’ve accomplished so far. December is a unique time on the academic calendar,
one filled with increased confidence as you navigate college life more independently,
but also the very real pressures of finals, grades, and the fear of falling short
of your own expectations. These feelings can coexist, and it’s important to acknowledge
them both.
Managing Finals Stress
As you prepare for exams, projects, and end-of-semester deadlines, remember that you
are not alone. FSC offers a range of resources to help you study effectively and relieve
stress:
Celebrating Your Growth
December is also a time to reflect. Whether this is your first semester or your final
year, you’ve grown in meaningful ways: you’ve built routines, learned new concepts,
and strengthened your problem-solving skills both in and out of the classroom. Take
a moment to celebrate your progress. Small steps count just as much as big wins.
Heading Home with a New Identity
For many of you, you may notice that you’ve changed, becoming more independent, more
confident, or simply thinking differently than you did in September. At the same time,
family expectations may not have shifted alongside your growth. Give yourself grace
as you transition between campus life and home life, and reflect on what you’re proud
of this semester and consider how you want to continue that momentum in the spring.
As your vice president for student affairs, I am incredibly proud of the resilience,
creativity, and determination you demonstrate every day. Finish strong, take care
of yourselves, and know that the entire FSC community is here to support you.
Wishing you a successful finals season and a restorative winter break.
Warm regards,
